Rihanna is in the Big Apple for a string of publicity appearances, and following her stop at MTV’s Total Request Live yesterday, she was off to yet another gig.

She was spotted arriving at SkyBar for a photo shoot, looking fit and fine in a circa-1984 denim jacket overtop a screenprinted white tank top with a pair of leather pants and knee-high boots.

And after a super long day of television appearances and constant posing for the camera the Good Girl Gone Bad called it a night, heading back to her Midtown Manhattan hotel.

In related news, Rihanna will be competing in the 2008 Teen Choice Awards in three categories, including Choice Music: Single, Choice Music: Female Artist, and Choice Music: R&B Artist.

Rihanna is scheduled to flip the switch to the skyscraper’s lights on Thursday at 1 p.m.

So you might catch a glimpse of her as she attends the media event. She won´t technically light up the tower — she’ll be flipping the switch on a replica in the lobby.

Nevertheless, she’ll stick around for a bit and also visit the tower’s observatory.

Rihanna is doing the lighting honors on “Cartier’s Declare Your Love Day,” and guess which color will shine from the Empire State Building that night? Red, of course.

With a string of promotional gigs lined up, Rihanna stepped out on Tuesday afternoon for a scheduled appearance on MTV’s Total Request Live.

She was first spotted hopping into an awaiting ride outside of her NYC hotel before arriving at Times Square Studios.

Once inside, she posed backstage with the show’s special guest co-host Taylor Swift before taking the stage alongside Taylor and MTV VJ Damian Fahey.

During their time entertaining the audience, Fahey asked Rihanna about recent rumors claiming that she has a lingerie collection in the works.

To this, Rihanna responded: “I love lingerie. I love buying it and making it. I would like to [have one] one day but we’re going to start with the fashion first — apparel and clothing. Maybe some underwear for you (pointing at Damian while laughing).”

Following her TRL appearance, Rihanna’s now slated to hit BET’s 106 & Park tomorrow, then performing lighting honors on “Cartier’s Declare Your Love Day” at the Empire State Building on Thursday.

Rihanna just looked amazing at the mmva´s last sunday!

Wet weather conditions didn’t dampen fans’ spirits at the MuchMusic Video Awards Sunday night in Toronto. Thousands of onlookers surrounded the MuchMusic headquarters on the corner of Queen and John, standing in the rain for hours to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars.

Reality stars Girlicious handed out the first award of the night, giving Rihanna the trophy for Best International Video for “Don’t Stop the Music.” Rihanna won both the MMVAs she was up for, also picking up the MuchMusic.com Most Watched Video award for “Umbrella”.

Rihanna returns with her first ever DVD release from the tour Good Girl Gone Bad. The DVD which was filmed at the MEN Arena in Manchester, December 2007 also includes a behind the scenes documentary and an alternative never seen before video for the enormous hit Umbrella.

Rihanna will take the stage June 24, the show announced Thursday. Also added: Ne-Yo, Jennifer Hudson, Terrence Howard and Gabrielle Union.

The lineup had already included Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nelly and Usher.

Hudson, Howard and Union will help present awards recognizing the year’s best musicians, music videos, actors and athletes.

Jill Scott will perform a tribute to BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner Al Green, and Quincy Jones will receive the network’s Humanitarian Award.

D.L. Hughley is set to host the show, which is to be broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium.

Rihanna, illScarlett, Hedley and Girlicious headline the top pop acts and presenters at the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards. “It could be one of the most memorable shows,” says one insider.

The 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards is taking it to the streets, bringing chart-topping acts and showbiz glitterati to Toronto for the 19th annual extravaganza.

Rihanna, Simple Plan, Sean Kingston and Hedley are among the international and Canadian acts that will fire up the red carpet and live telecast on Sunday, June 15 at 9 p.m. on MuchMusic. The star-gazing begins with the “Red Carpet Arrivals Special” at 8 p.m. ET. The celebrity-spotting continues with the “MMVAs AfterMath” at 11 p.m.

“We have quite a few big acts this year. It could be one of the most memorable shows,” says MuchMusic VJ Matte Babel.

The most nominated artists include Hedley, Belly, illScarlett and Simple Plan.

Best Video award nominees include Feist’s “1234,” Belly featuring Mario Winans in “Ridin,” Hedley’s “For the Nights I Can’t Remember,” illScarlett’s “Nothing Special” and Simple Plan’s “When I’m Gone.”

Hot celebrity presenters also pump up the star power. Gossip blog king Perez Hilton will be on hand to dole out MMVA honours. Other presenters include Spice Girl Melanie C, Sam Roberts, “Gossip Girl’s” Chace Crawford, Sum 41, “The Office’s” Rainn Wilson and “The Hills” stars Brody Jenner and Whitney Port.

“It’s going to be a real mix of big, established acts and hot up-and-comers,” says Babel. “Rihanna is a huge star and has been touring with Kanye West, one of the greatest performers in the world. I’m sure she’s picked up a thing or two from him and will put on a great show.”
